Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez: Are Young Hollywood Couples Doomed? [PHOTOS]

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez break-up rumors are circulating, but neither Bieber nor Gomez have confirmed the rumors, which seem to be based off pure gossip.

The reports state that the young power couple called it quits after Bieber sang Justin Timberlake's song, "Cry Me A River," at one of Gomez's concerts. "Cry Me A River" was rumored to be about Justin's ex-girlfriend Britney Spears because the song came out around the time the couple officially called it quits. Timberlake never confirmed that the song was in-fact about Spears.

Like young Gomez and Bieber, Timberlake and Spears shared an intimate relationship when they were both on their rise to super-stardom. Spears was riding on the "Ooops....I Did It Again" cloud, and Timberlake was riding the air waves with his boy band group, NSYNC. But almost as quickly as the two rose to fame, the relationship fizzled.

"I don't have too much to say about her situation. I can't remember the last conversation I had with her," Timberlake stated in a recent interview with Playboy magazine.

"I wish her the best -- that goes without saying. We haven't spoken in 9 or 10 years," he said. "We were two birds of the same feather -- small-town kids, doing the same thing. But then you become adults, and the way you were as kids doesn't make any sense. I won't speak on her, but at least for me, I was a totally different person... I just don't think we were normal; there was nothing normal about our existence. We spent way too much time being the biggest thing for teenyboppers."

And to make the comparisons between the two couples even more creepy, Gomez has stated she is a hugge Spears fan, and even did a 'Britney Mash-up Tribute' in Florida. The 19-year-old Gomez performed some of Spears' biggest hits, including the song that took Spears from a small town girl to a major pop sensation, "Baby, One More Time."

Like Timberlake and Spears, Gomez and Bieber have had a highly publicized relationship and are both at the beginning and possibly, the height of their careers. 'Belieber' fans are either happy for the couple or openly condemn the relationship, while Gomez fans seem indifferent.

Some speculate that the relationship is purely young puppy love. And if they were to split, it seems we may have another 'Team Aniston' 'Team Jolie' case on our hands, only replace Aniston and Jolie with Bieber and Gomez.
